World of Warcraft Instructional Video

I just recently started playing World of Warcraft and the friend that got me started with WOW showed me this instructional video. It's very funny and somewhat helpful to Noobs (Me for now). Is shows Billy being taught how to navigate through the World of Warcraft. If you play WOW you need to watch this video Noob or not. Even if you don't play WOW you will like this video.

Gears of War: The End is Near

Gears of War was one of the first games on the Xbox 360 and it was the game that first attracted me to the Xbox 360.

It starts off with Marcus Fenix getting picked up for his prison cell by his comrade and friend Dominic Santiago. Dom give Fenix a gun and says lets good and from that point on the action never stops especially when you first get the Lancer which is a machine gun with a chainsaw and when you first use the chainsaw you fall in love with that gun. The games plot is and alien race called the Locust has burrowed into the Earth's crust and is coming up out of the ground and has been trying to cause the human race to become an extinct race. You are Marcus Fenix and you and Delta Squad must stop this. You also have some other memorable characters like Augustus Cole a.k.a the Cole Train which is and awesome character and he bring some comic relief to the game. Then there's Baird a character who never shuts up and you just want to shoot him. Lucky for us he isn't as annoying in the 2nd game but he is still annoying. The co-op in this game is awesome and requires lots of team work no communication means you aren't going to win. The game is intense, but you are equipped for the challenge. I talked about the Lancer already but there is another beauty in this game called the Hammer of Dawn. The Hammer of Dawn targets enemies and then called on a satellite from space and it sends down a beam to Earth that incinerates anyone and anything in its path. Epic Games really made this game very unique.

Then Gears of War 2 came out improving on everything to make this game a better game.

This game takes off and this time you are going into the Locust tunnels and Marcus Fenix is back with Dom and the rest of Delta Squad. One this they improved was that even in single player you can be revived by your computer controlled partner. The downside is now the enemy can revive their fallen comrades as well, but I just love to pick them off with the Long Shot (the Sniper Rifle). They also improved the multi-player in Gears of War 2. If you have played these games you know they are awesome. If you haven't played this games you need to play this game.

With the announcement of Gears of War 3 the anticipation is building up. Cliffy B. official announced on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon that Gears of War 3 will be released on April 5, 2011.

Gears of War 3 will be the final game to complete this trilogy. What's next for Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad we will find out when the game is released a year from now and I for one can't wait.

Game of the Day: Coach K College Basketball

Today's game of the day in Coach K College Basketball

The main reason I picked this game as the game of the day is because the Duke Blue Devils won the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship yesterday and being a Duke fan myself I'm very happy about it. Another reason this is a very good basketball game and how many College Coaches have their own video game? Not many. Coach Mike Krzyzewski is a living legend he now has 4 NCAA championships to his name and he also Coached the USA Men's Olympic team and brought home the Gold in 2008. But enough about Coach K lets talk about his video game. This basketball game is one of the better basketball games released on the Sega Genesis. At the team select screen there is something called the Coach K Report. This is where he gives some facts about the two teams selected. Its a solid sports game and lots of fun. If you have a Sega Genesis its worth picking up you can find the game on eBay, Amazon, or a vintage used game store for a great price. Even if you are not a Duke fan this game is still worth picking up.

Console Flops: Virtual Boy

With all the talk about the Nintendo 3D I thought it would be good to talk about an awful system known as the Virtual Boy. This system was the worst thing that ever came from Nintendo. Here is a commercial for the Virtual Boy.

I remember wanting this as a kid just because of what I heard, but when I saw a price tag of $179.99 I said to myself my parents will never buy me this. Before I knew it I had forgotten about the Virtual Boy because it came and went in less then year. I never played a Virtual Boy and I'm happy I never did seeing the games was enough. This system was suppose to be cutting edge so it should have been in full color. The only colors it had was red and black the main color was red. I heard that if you played it to long you wouldn't be able to see Red for a while. Another thing was that this system was marketed as a portable system and it was not a portable system. The Virtual Boy was created by Gunpei Yokoi the man who created the game and watch games and the Game Boy. Nintendo gave him the go ahead to make the Virtual Boy because of his success with the Game Boy. When the system flopped he was put in a cubical in the back of Nintendo and pretty much wasn't aloud to do much of anything. In 1997 he died in a fatal car accident. When the Game Boy advance was released he was honored and remembered for his accomplishments. The Nintendo DS was taken from his original design of the Game and Watch systems. He also was the mastermind behind the Metroid series. Super Metroid inspired the game designers over at Konami to give Castlevania: Symphony of the Night the same level layout and the fans of Castlevania: SOTN commonly referred to this game as "Metroidvania". Gunpei Yokoi had many great accomplishment and one major flop overall he was an amazing game and console designer. This also shows that even the greats can make mistakes. The Virtual Boy was a great concept but the execution was horrible. The Virtual Boy was able to sell just under 800,000 copies of the system in its short life time but it went through many price cuts before it made it to that number. The Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed this system and pretty much all the games and if you would like to see what he thinks please watch his review below.
